![Freedom Tower model](https://i0.wp.com/www.onemanandhisblog.com/content/images/2004/11/freedomtower.jpg?resize=203%2C300 "Freedom Tower model")[Gothamist links](http://www.gothamist.com/archives/2004/11/09/freedom%5Ftower%5Farchitect%5Fsued%5Ffor%5Ftaking%5Fdesign.php?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) to some very interesting news on the Freedom Tower, the putative replacement for the World Trade Centre which is under construction in New York:

[Ex-Yale student sues designer of Freedom Tower, alleges copyright infringement](http://www.nynewsday.com/news/local/manhattan/wtc/ny-bc-ny--freedomtowerlawsu1108nov08,0,5654708.story?coll=nyc-homepage-headlines&ref=onemanandhisblog.com)

Yes, it appears that a student is claiming that he showed some of his designs to [David Childs](http://www.som.com/resources/content/4/1/printPreview.html?ref=onemanandhisblog.com), the architect of the Ground Zero site (which was masterplanned by [Daniel Libeskind](http://www.daniel-libeskind.com/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com), who has his own legal issues around the development). Those designs bear a remarkable resemblance to finished product, or so he maintains.

So, that’s an [architect suing the developer](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3895145.stm?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) and a student suing an architect. What a noble symbol this building will be.
