[This](http://www.spatial-literacy.org/UCLnames/Surnames.aspx?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) is very interesting, and a lot of fun. It pulls information on surnames out of the census databases and displays them on a map. For example, here’s the distributions of Tinworths in the 1881 and 1998 census.
