Things I’ve been meaning to link for a while:

- Dan Blank points out that the [lesson of the exposure of Fake Steve Jobs](http://danblank.com/blog/2007/08/09/editors-as-their-own-media-brands/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) is that journalists can really inovate, if given the chance.
- Scoble gives an idea of the competition and technology behind [live-blogging events](http://scobleizer.com/2007/08/07/covering-an-apple-press-event/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) – something that journalists can do to really add value for their readers.
- Talking of innovation, no magazine editor would have approved a spread of [technology unboxing pictures](http://www.tuaw.com/2007/08/09/unboxing-the-new-imac/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) – yet they’re hugely popular on the net. Conventional wisdom? Not so wise.
- I keep telling people that [Alexa is a load of old tosh](http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/08/13/alexa-says-youtube-is-now-bigger-than-google-theyre-wrong/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com).
- Should stories be [comprehensible without following the links](http://www.wordblog.co.uk/2007/08/22/if-the-story-is-in-the-links-who-will-follow-them/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com)? It depends on context, of course. Posts like this are all about the links, but any serious writing should use links for additional information, but be whole in their own right.
