# A macro lens with a built in light? Sign me up

*(Apologies for the cheese, but kudos to the fictional couple for keeping a camera for so long. Very sustainable…)*

The EF-M 28mm f/3.5 STM is a macro lens – with a built in light? Neat idea – if it works. The fact that the light is actually two lights, each of which can be controlled individually makes this a really handy tool – potentially. It all depends on how it performs.

But at a *fairly* affordable [$300 in the US](http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1250645-REG/canon%5Fef%5Fm%5F28mm%5Ff%5F3%5F5%5Fmacro.html?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) – ~~which will mean £200-and-something UK~~ and £294.99 in the UK (odd exchange rate there, Canon…), I suspect I’ll be giving it a go when it ships in June.
