This is a powerful summation of how many of us [early intermet users are feeling](https://www.wired.com/story/the-sadness-of-deleting-old-tweets/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com) right now:

> Deleting those tweets was the nail in the coffin of my innocent relationship with the internet. That’s a lesson all online denizens have been learning as we watch net neutrality unravel, trolls and disinformation armies weaponize our old content, and social media surface dangerous rumors that, at their worst, can influence the outcomes of elections or get people killed.

In my more hopeful moments, I mourn the passing of the web's innocent childhood, accept that we're in its difficult teenage years, and hope that it grows into a well-adjusted adult.
