# Twitter bans voting misinformation

Twitter continues taking baby steps in the right direction by banning the following under the category of [manipulating or interfering in elections](https://blog.twitter.com/en%5Fus/topics/company/2019/strengthening-our-approach-to-deliberate-attempts-to-mislead-vot.html?utm%5Fcampaign=Big%20Revolution&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=Revue%20newsletter):

> - Misleading information about how to vote or register to vote (for example, that you can vote by Tweet, text message, email, or phone call);
> - Misleading information about requirements for voting, including identification requirements; and
> - Misleading statements or information about the official, announced date or time of an election.

This will be fun, as it's both a common voter suppression tactic, and a common source of jokes. I bet we see people get banned for joking about this.
