# And…back

I’ve just taken a few weeks of quasi-holiday. And, boy, was it needed. I’ve grabbed little bits of holiday here and there, but there hasn’t been a single week since early September 2024 when I haven’t done a significant amount of work. And it finally caught up with me. I was tired and very burnt out.

So, as the girls hit their summer holidays from school, I’ve been trying to minimise my work. I’ve finished off a couple of online courses, done a few academic misconduct panels at [City St George’s](https://www.citystgeorges.ac.uk/about/schools/communication-creativity/journalism?ref=onemanandhisblog.com), and done some writing and editing for [Next Conference](https://nextconf.eu/?ref=onemanandhisblog.com), and a few other bits and bobs.

And I’ve been out and about in nature with my daughters, watching movies, and painting Warhammer figures with my youngest. Oh, and celebrating [my eldest](https://onemanandhisblog.com/2012/08/one%5Fman%5Fhis%5Fdaughter/) hitting 13\. Yes, I have a teenager in my life. Wish me luck.

This has given me some useful headspace to think about where I want to take my work next, both here and in my training and consulting practice.

So, apologies for the break in service here — but it was all in a good cause. I’m coming back refreshed and excited, and hopefully with some new things to say.
