Isabelle Roughol reminded me yesterday that Substack has just added the ability to add blogrolls to your newsletter, just as Medium did.

It’s clear that 2001’s must have blog accessory is suddenly big news.

Why?

Well, blogrolls were an early solution to the biggest problem in online media: discovery. How do people find you? How do you keep people coming back?

That’s the problem the whole discipline of audience engagement is trying to solve, and it’s one that online content creators have grappled with since the dawn of the internet.
